Holcim Ltd - Markus Akermann, CEO

Swiss national, born January 25, 1947, CEO, member of the Board of Directors, elected until 2010. He obtained a degree in business economics from the University of St. Gallen in 1973 and studied economic and social sciences at the University of Sheffield, UK. He began his professional career in 1975 with the former Swiss Bank Corporation. In 1978, he moved to Holcim, where he was active in a number of roles including Area Manager for Latin America and Holcim Trading. In 1993, he was appointed to the Executive Committee, with responsibility for Latin America and international trading activities. On January 1, 2002, he was appointed CEO and at the annual general meeting in 2002, he was elected to the Board of Directors of Holcim Ltd.
