Many of our business units engage in constructive dialogue and community relations through initiatives such as permanent citizen committees, meetings with ratepayer associations and open houses. They provide financial and other support to many worthy endeavours and several have received awards for their community outreach programs.

A key element of our CSR approach focuses on improving our OH&S performance throughout the company.

To clearly demonstrate the importance of OH&S, all lost time injuries must be reported immediately and directly to the President and CEO. An analysis of the accident and corresponding corrective measures must be reported to the Vice-president, Human Resources and Communications within five working days. Furthermore, at St. Lawrence Cement’s monthly Executive Committee meetings, OH&S reporting is at the top of the agenda.

We are confident that in addition to our current programs, the implementation of the Holcim Health and Safety framework will contribute to continued improvement in our OH&S performance.
